How to add the SSL certificate for the site in DirectAdmin

Installing purchased certificates

Note: To install a commercial certificate requires a dedicated (dedicated) IP address.

Step 1: Make a request for certificate (CSR)

Open the menu "Install SSL Certificates".

Select "Create a Certificate Request". Enter information about your company. Common Name (Domain) - it's the exact name of the domain from which the associated certificate. In the above case, the certificate will work with the address types: and not with

When you have entered all the information, click "Save" at the bottom of the screen. You will see a picture like this:

Copy this text (including the lines "BEGIN / END CERTIFICATE REQUEST") in a text editor (such editor, eg Windows Notepad, but not Word editor) and save the file with a request to the computer. This information you will need when you buy a certificate.

Step 2: Purchase of certificates

To purchase a certificate, you will need to prepare information about yourself, about the company, as well as the site:

- Certificate Request (CSR)

- Software that generates request

- The name of your certificate (common name - domain)

CSR (request for certificate)

Just take a generated (from the panel) requirements that are just now saved to disk. This requirement should be inserted in the form Orderstatus certificates. Make sure to use a simple text editor. Copy the request including the lines "BEGIN / END CERTIFICATE REQUEST".

Software that generates a request (CSR)

Choose Apache-modssl, or "Other" (second) if you do not see Apache-modssl the list. Do not worry if you make a mistake. This information is needed only for statistical purposes.

Common Name (Domain)

"Common Name" refers to the address of your site for which you ordered SSL certificate (see Step 1). Enter this address without the "http: //", unless otherwise specified by the vendor.

Step 3: Install the Certificate

Open the menu "Install SSL Certificates".

Select "Paste a pre-generated certificate and key". As you can see, the key is already in the text field. Immediately insert the certificate after the key, and then click "Save".

Step 4: Install root certificate

If, together with the certificate you get the parent (root) of certification (Root CA), then you should install it as follows. Return to the main menu for managing SSL certificates. At the bottom there is a link "Click Here to paste a CA Root Certificate". Click on the link and insert identification certificate in the text box and click on "Save".

Important Note: Be sure to set the value in the "Use a CA Cert.".

While installing CA Root certificate is not always necessary, it may be that your SSL certificate will not function properly if you do not perform this final step.

Download available via a secure protocol (https)

The downloaded files can be embedded in the panel via via File Manager or via FTP. Files which are available via https must load into a folder.
